Toad Hall
The Commission:
Design and build a window for a kitchen remodel.
"Toad Hall" is the nickname my patrons gave to their exquisite home, a Tudor-mansion-in-miniature that was built sometime in the 1930s when highly skilled artisanal labor was somewhere around a dollar a day. It sits in one of those well-to-do villages south of San Francisco that doesn't have any sidewalks. They needed a window that could capture the spirit of their house. We started with their family coat of arms (very liberally adapted to the challenges of copper foil windows!) and added some wisteria....
