This piece was commissioned to celebrate the final reconstruction of a home that had been destroyed during the Oakland fire of 1991. It had been an overwhelmingly daunting recovery and the final celebration had great meaning for everyone involved...
In this screen there are three koy... each one has risen above the flood waters... each in his own way.. The one who REALLY made it.. who is celebrating the triumph... is the one at the top who has completely cleared the waters, and even broken through the confining "structure" of the amber glass and is breathing the air of freedom....
The glass is amazingly transparent and consequently VERY difficult to photograph...
