The Pine Branch
Hello everybody.
Here are three pictures of one of my most favorite folding screens. It was originally designed as a lush three dimensional background for a large Japanese porcelain figurine. Circumstances (and an even larger black and white spotted friend) have removed the figurine to some happier world, but I have lived with and loved this piece for many years... It has copper pine needles that reach into our space from the artistic space of the image and they do require a small bit of affectionate care when it's time to dust. They have acquired just the right amount of patina to darken them to a most satisfying hue ... The glass for the background has an iridized surface which adds a magical touch as you move around the room and see it's reflective colors....
