The Commission:
"Jeff, my husband flew his airplane on a solo flight from the Oakland Airport all the way to Athens, Greece. For his birthday I want to give him something special to commemorate his flight..."

I started with the suspension towers of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge and they just grew into the columns of the Parthenon.  The fog is from San Francisco Bay, but it also represents the fog he had to fly through elsewhere on his flight as well...
